I visited Villa de Zaáchila (commonly known as Zaáchila) in 2015 mainly to see the market and the archaeological zone. I had no idea of the
fantastic murals that were there. What a surprise that a largely agricultural town just outside of the city of Oaxaca with a population of 15,000 could have such artists!
I never learned the names of the artists but I understand a small group worked together to create the art.
If you want to visit Zaáchila, go on a Thursday as it is market day.
